Sharing Corporate Consciousness

Santa_fe Energy and excitement is flowing here at the 9th International Business and Consciousness Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico, this week. We are all gathered to share our practices about Corporate Consciousness.  Being a conscious entrepreneur, investor and socially-responsible global citizen, I thought that this would be a great place to find other "like-minded" leaders in the business world.  Oh boy, was I right!  I feel like a kid in a candy shop right now as I network my way through the hundreds of participants.  I hope I brought enough business cards!

I have met so many great people here.  One in particular is Cliff Feigenbaum of www.GreenMoney.com.  Cliff and I happened to be sitting next to each other during a rather intense session that was challenging our awareness and thinking about our own personal next business steps.  In talking with him for quite awhile, I learned that Cliff feels he has a calling to help people find and discern globally and socially responsible investing opportunities.  During the 15 years that he has been in business he has won many awards for doing what he does, including the prestigious Wisdom Media Worldview award with other phenomenal honorees such as Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay.    The icing on the cake is that Cliff is a fine, sensitive, concerned global citizen.

We are all a part of the web of life and need to do our part to sustain it through our authentic business practices.  From all indications, Cliff seems to walk his talk.

Touchstones_in_net Touchstone Tuesday

We all have "touchstones" in our lives- those ideas, concepts, beliefs and values that we use to measure the authenticity of new ideas, concepts, beliefs and values which come into our awareness.

As a consultant and coach, my primary job is to help people build their capacity to identify what it is they believe, how their beliefs affect their actions, and how those actions impact their results.  Put another way, I help people look at what they want, determining what it will take to get what they want, then identify and deal with beliefs and obstacles that stand in the way.

I developed Touchstone Tuesday to help you, gentle reader, ponder a weekly question that will move you closer to finding your own personal touchstone. And, guess what, there are no "right" answers to these questions.  Just your intuitive sense of things.  So grab another cup of coffee, sit back at your desk, put your feet up and ponder this touchstone question with me for awhile. Here’s to your quest for authentic results.

What do you think is the most difficult thing to change?

Are the Energy Vampires Getting in Your Way?

Vampire_bat_pete_woodhead As I mentioned in my last blog post, Reach!, January is "Reach Your Potential" month.  Today I wanted to share something that I talk about in my upcoming book.  A topic that  plagues us all and could keep us from reaching our potential- Energy Vampires.  That’s right… those folks who zap your energy and monopolize your time.  If you learn to manage your energy well, you will be managing your time well.  As my pal Jim Estill writes, time management is really energy management.

Ah, those well-meaning, but negative, people.  When you are in their presence, or talking to them on the phone, you feel your own energy being sucked right out into the ethers. After an interaction with an Energy Vampire, you might feel depressed and spiraling downward. And you vow to yourself that next time you will "cut it short" when this energy sucker comes a-calling.

Let’s take an inventory.  Who in your life is an Energy Vampire? Sometimes our Energy Vampires are our family members- siblings, parents or even, oh my gosh!, our spouses/ partners.  They could be co-workers or friends. Whoever they are, you know that you feel a certain "doom and gloom" when they appear at your office door or your cell phone caller id.

To empower ourselves to reach our potential, we need to effectively manage our Energy Vampires to keep our own energy levels soaring high and our time free for important issues.

I coach my clients to always do a reality check after each interaction they have.  Did this experience leave me feeling good or not so good?  Do I want to spend lots of time with this person in the future?  If the answers are not so good and no, then it’s time to pull back, get busy, find positive people to be around and limit your interactions with your Energy Vampire.

You will see some remarkable results as you keep your own energy intact.  It will propel you toward reaching your potential.
