Revving Your Engine to Reach Your Goals

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” ~Lao Tzu~

You know that you’re ready for change. You want it! You need it! You are revving your engines to move full-speed ahead. But… you aren’t quite sure how to determine your destination, map out your journey, and keep the gas flowing in your engines to get you where you want to go. So you just putter along. Or, like a car with a flat tire, you get stuck on the side of the road.
I have some great news to share! You can turn to a professional coach (like me), to help you get the clarity and confidence that you need to move forward.

A professional coach is a personal cheerleader and project manager all rolled into one. When you arrive at their office, they will help you determine what you want to achieve, map out a personal path to success, and then cheer you all the way across the finish line.

You are not alone!
You have support!
Your coach believes that you can do it and helps you make it happen!

Hiring a coach is an important investment in your personal and professional growth. But how do you ensure that you are making a wise investment and hiring the very best coach who has your best interest at the heart of the engagement?

Stay tuned to this series of posts to help you get the information that you need to find the perfect coach.

Putting the “Resolve” into Resolutions

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

It’s a great time to set your intentions for a new year.  Yet why do so many people fail to continue with their resolutions after only a few days or weeks?  There are two big reasons:

(1)   Too many resolutions; or

(2)    Resolutions that are too lofty or too hard to reach.

How many resolutions are  too many?  Most time management experts agree that more than 2 or 3 resolutions are just too hard to keep track of which will cause failure to keep them. .

An even better success strategy is to set your sights on only one New Year’s resolution and put your total focus on taking positive action and baby steps each day to achieve it.  Doesn’t it make sense that you will be much more motivated to change your habits if you are only focusing on one habit to change at a time!

How do you know if a resolution is too lofty?  If your initial reaction is “It will be a miracle if I can swing this”, then it will probably stay outside of your achievement circle.  When you create your resolution ask yourself if it is doable, achievable and realistic.

If you follow these two small pieces of advice, you will be much more likely to keep your New Year’s Resolutions all year long.

Happy New Year!
